Disabilityguide.org is the Washington, DC metro area's premiere online disability information resource. Their mission is to create a user-friendly, information-packed resource targeted at helping those with disabilities find the information they need. They strive to give persons with significant disabilities useful information to help them make educated choices and discuss other issues. In addition, we have listed some useful websites below that can further assist you with your needs.
DDS provides services to more than 10,000 residents with disabilities through its two administrations. Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) offers training and other services aimed at assisting people with disabilities to prepare for and retain employment. The Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) provides services that enable people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live meaningful and productive lives in our community.
ODR ensures that the programs, services, benefits, activities and facilities operated or funded by the District of Columbia are fully accessible to, and useable by people with disabilities. ODR is committed to inclusion, community-based services, and self-determination for people with disabilities. ODR is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the City's obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as other disability rights laws.
DCSILC is committed to the empowerment of people with disabilities through the provision of independent living (IL) services. IL The DCSILC participates in planning with and advises the designated state units, D.C. Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) and other state agencies to insure provision of community-based, consumer-controlled, cross-disability services in compliance with requirements of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998, The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, Title VII Independent Living Philosophy.
